History

Founded in 2003, Clearer Audio is owned and directed by Darren Smith & Emma Smith. Darren is responsible for all aspects of design, product development and production. Emma is responsible for company administration and finances.

Having conducted considerable research and development prior to its official formation, Clearer Audio quickly established itself as an exciting and innovative new manufacturer of cables. In addition, Clearer Audio has built a strong reputation for building products of the highest quality by hand.
 
In September 2005, Clearer Audio received its first review from What Hi-Fi? Sound & Vision magazine for its Copper-line Power Cable. The cable was highly acclaimed and awarded 5 stars. Two months later, the Copper-line Power Cable won its first award from What Hi-Fi? Sound & Vision with the accolade of Best Mains Cable. The cable continued to assert its dominance as a class-leading product receiving the accolade in 2006 and 2007. The cable also received a Best Mains Cable award from Hi-Fi Choice magazine in 2006.
 
In 2008, Clearer Audio launched the Copper-line Alpha Power Cable which was developed from the Copper-line Power Cable and designed to be a world-class entry level mains cable solution. The cable was an instant success receiving 5 Stars from What Hi-Fi? Sound & Vision. The cable went on to receive the Best Mains Cable award from What Hi-FI? Sound & Vision in 2008 and 2009.

In 2012, Clearer Audio announced the new ColdPlug. The ColdPlug is a new speaker cable connector/termination solution that eliminates the two main disadvantages (as well as others) which most connectors suffer (that is, being made from relatively unconductive brass and using solder to couple the cable conductors to the connector). The new ColdPlugs are a low-mass design made from pure copper and crimped to the cable conductors with 5.4 tonnes of pressure resulting in a single homogenous structure providing optimal performance.

In addition to usual running activities, Clearer Audio currently has a long term project which is ongoing.
